Washington, D.C. – May 4, 2025
In a tightly contested matchup at Edgewood Rec Center, DC Hyper suffered their first defeat of the 2025 UPSL DMV North Premier season, falling 1-0 to MSI Pro on Saturday night.
The match was marked by DC Hyper’s high intensity and commitment throughout the 90 minutes, but the team struggled to find clear paths through a well-organized MSI defensive block. Despite long spells of possession and pressure, Hyper found it difficult to convert their build-up into meaningful opportunities in the final third.
MSI took advantage of one of their few chances late in the second half, capitalizing on a counter-attack that resulted in the decisive goal of the match. It was the first time DC Hyper had been held scoreless in the competition.
“It was a match where we needed more precision in the attacking phase. We had the ball and played with intensity, but lacked the final pass and effectiveness to break down a very disciplined opponent,” said Head Coach Sergio Caetano after the match.
The result ends DC Hyper’s unbeaten streak, but the team remains firmly in the top half of the table as it turns the page toward the next challenge.
The Thunder now shift their focus to one of the most important matches of the regular season — a tough away clash against Club Deportivo Laurel, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, at 7:30 PM. Laurel currently shares the top of the table with Hyper, making the upcoming match a direct battle in the race for playoff positioning.
