Gaithersburg, MD – April 27, 2025
In a challenging and uncharacteristically flat afternoon, DC Hyper was held to a 2-2 draw by MoCo 1776 in the fourth round of the UPSL DMV North Premier, ending the team’s perfect start to the season in terms of both results and defensive record.

Despite creating numerous opportunities, the Thunder struggled to find rhythm and precision in the attacking third. MoCo opened the scoring, and although DC Hyper responded with an equalizer, the home side once again took the lead. A late goal salvaged a point for DC, but the performance left the group with clear areas to address moving forward.

The match was also marked by controversial officiating decisions, with three possible handball incidents inside the MoCo penalty area going unpunished. These moments added to the frustration of a day where DC Hyper saw its run of three straight clean sheets come to an end.

Head Coach Sergio Caetano acknowledged the difficulty of the match and the need for improvement:

“It was a difficult game, and we didn’t perform at the level we expect. We created enough to win, but we need to be more focused and effective in key moments. This is a learning point for the group.”

The result brings DC Hyper to 10 points from a possible 12 in the month of April — a strong start to the campaign, though not without room for growth. General Manager Gabriel Ferrari evaluated the month with a balanced perspective:

“Taking 10 out of 12 points is satisfactory, but we believe we had conditions to reach 12, maybe even 25 points when we look at performance potential. Now it’s about consistency and preparing for the next step.”

DC Hyper now shifts focus to the upcoming clash against MSI Pro, scheduled for Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 PM at Edgewood Rec Center, in Washington, D.C. The team returns home with a clear objective: get back to winning ways and stay near the top of the table.
