In a tense and hard-fought semifinal at the Maryland SoccerPlex, DC Hyper punched its ticket to the UPSL DMV North Premier Final, defeating Bridge Sports 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw through 90 minutes and extra time.

The match was marked by high intensity and playoff nerves, with DC Hyper controlling possession and dictating the tempo throughout most of the encounter. Despite creating several opportunities, the Thunder were unable to break through against a compact Bridge defensive block. The extreme heat conditions also added to the challenge, limiting the pace of play at times and testing both squads physically.

“It was a game where we did almost everything right except score,” said Head Coach Sergio Caetano. “We kept our composure, controlled the game, and in the end, showed character in the shootout to earn our place in the final.”

In the penalty shootout, DC Hyper converted all five of its spot kicks with precision, while the defense and goalkeeper stood firm to secure the narrow victory.

With the win, DC Hyper now advances to face Club Deportivo Laurel in the championship match. The DMV North title will be decided on Saturday, July 6, at 7:00 PM, once again at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

“This was the first step. Now we prepare for the final, knowing it will take another complete team effort to reach our ultimate goal,” Caetano added.
