Match Preview | DC Hyper vs. Rockville SC
June 1, 2025 | UPSL DMV North Premier – Week 8
Kickoff: 7:30 PM | Edgewood Rec Center, Washington, D.C.
After securing playoff qualification with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Germantown City FC in the last round, DC Hyper returns to the field this Saturday to face Rockville SC, with a new goal in focus: the DMV North regular-season title.
Currently sitting in second place, DC Hyper is just two points behind MSI Pro, who leads the table heading into the final stretch. With two matches remaining — against Rockville this weekend and Frederick Kings in the final round — the Thunder know that every point will count in the push for the top.
Saturday’s clash at Edgewood Rec Center presents both opportunity and challenge. While Rockville is not in playoff contention, they remain a competitive and unpredictable opponent capable of disrupting the race at the top.
Head Coach Sergio Caetano has emphasized focus and mentality as key pillars in this decisive phase of the season:
“We’ve achieved our first goal, which was to secure qualification. Now we need to stay sharp and fight for the best possible finish. It’s about discipline, execution, and not leaving anything to chance.”
DC Hyper will be without Fábio Jr., who misses the match due to injury. Even so, the squad remains confident, coming off a run of positive performances and solidifying its identity on both ends of the pitch.
By the Numbers:
- DC Hyper: 5W – 2D – 1L | 17 Points | 15 GF / 6 GA | 2nd place
- MSI Pro: 16 Points | 2 points ahead with one match left
- Playoffs: Qualification already secured
- Key Absence: Fábio Jr. (injured)
